blackcontentcreatorswomensroundtable-www.blallywood.comI stumbled across a YouTube video in which Black female content creators Issa Rae, Lena Waithe, Ashley Blaine Featherson, Andrea Lewis, and Numa Perrier discuss the current state of Black media, particularly as it relates to the portrayal of the Black female. They discuss the two extremes of how Black women are portrayed in media – the ratchet stereotype portrayed on VH1 programming, and the “bougie” Black characters like Olivia Pope on the other side. Where are the in between images of everyday middle class Black Women? Check out the video below:
