Awkward Black Girl’s Issa Rae Lands ABC TV Show Deal

ABC has bought a new series Hate La Dudes from web series star and producer Issa Rae. Think Progress reports that Shonda Rhimes will be producing the show through her company Shondaland, which produces Greys Anatomy, Scandal, and Private Practice for ABC. Shonda Rhimes was recently mentioned as one of TV’s most powerful women as written about in this post.

I Hate LA Dudes show centers a young journalist who has recently moved to Los Angelas. She is the only female on a popular Internet talk show. In her off time she explores the Los Angelas dating scene.

Issa Rae first gained popularity through her YouTube webseries The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl. It debuted in February 2011 and the first episode has around 1 million and a half views. Watch it below:
