Lessons-Before-Love-Dui-Jarrod-blallywoodThe award winning film Lesson Before Love will be released on DVD on February 25, 2014. You may not be familiar with the film since it did not have a wide theatrical release. It did however win awards as it moved through the festival circuit. The film won the Best Drama Award at the San Diego Black Film Festival, the Audience Award at Urban Mediamakers Film Festival, and had screenings at the Hollywood Black Film Festival, Bronzelens Film Festival, and New Voices in Black Cinema.

Here’s a summary of the film’s storyline:

“Eric, Alexis, Cullen and Janae are all single and unsatisfied living their monochromatic lives. The contentious, first time meeting between on-line chat buddies, Eric and Alexis, brings about a torrent of emotion as they all meet up for a night on the town. After which, they begin to experience love lessons that force them to search their own hearts and passion for the love that has long eluded them.”

Lesson Before Love is directed by Dui Jarrod who expressed plenty of gratitude for getting his film off the ground:

“Every young filmmaker maker has a hope and a dream.  Most time, that dream involves access to their work on a grand scale.  When I sat down to write this project, I could have never imagined our film getting nationwide DVD distribution.  Its a fitting beginning to my film career and fitting end to this film.  I pray people continue to discover it in the days, weeks and years to come.” ~ Dui Jarrod
