Black Director F. Gary Gray In Talks For Rap Film

The Hollywood Reporter writes that F. Gary Gray may direct the movie Straight Out of Compton. They have provided a synopsis of the film:

“Andrea Berloff wrote the script for the project, which details the rise and fall of the Compton, Calif.-based group, whose initials stood for N—–z With Attitude. The members included drug dealer-turned-label founder Eazy-E, young DJ Dr. Dreand the politically active Ice Cube, plusMC Ren and DJ Yella. “

F. Gary Gray’s credits including directing the 2003 film The Italian Job, as well as a number of hip hop music videos for Ice Cube, Babyface, and R. Kelly.
