“The Trip To Bountiful” On Broadway In Spring
The Trip To Bountiful will debut on April 23, 2013 on Broadway and run for 14 weeks. The production stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Vanessa Williams, Condola Rashad, and Cicely Tyson. The premier will mark 79-year-old Cisely Tyson’s first appearance on Broadway in 30-years.
Tyson stars as Carrie Watts, an elderly woman who is returning to her hometown in Bountiful, Texas for the last time against protests from her son and daughter-in-law. According to the Playbill summary:
Her journey becomes a heartbreaking but ultimately life-affirming and inspiring tale that examines the fragility of memory and celebrates the enduring power of hope and faith.
