The first day of its release Les Miserable beat out Django Unchained as the film with the highest Christmas Day earnings. But which film did better over the first full weekend?

It turns out The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey overtook both of these films in its third full weekend in theaters earning $32,920,000.

Django Unchained landed in second place with $30,688,000. This brought its full total up to $63,008,000.

Les Miserable landed in third place with 28,027,000 in earnings, but beat out Django Unchained with total earnings of $67,466,000.

It will be interesting to see if Django Unchained and Les Miserables stay head-to-head in the coming weeks.
