31-Year-Old Yaya DaCosta To Play Whitney Houston In Lifetime Film

yaya-dacosta31-Year-Old Yaya DaCosta, who you may know from America’s Next Top Model cycle 3, has been chosen to play Whitney Houston in Lifetime’s biopic I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story. The film is set for a release sometime in 2015, and Angela Bassett has been chosen to direct.  Since DaCosta’s first on screen appearance in 2004, she’s appeared in guest roles on shows such as House M.D., Ugly Betty, and All My Children. She made the transition to the big screen in Tron: Legacy and Lee Daniels: The Butler. The only thing that seems to be missing from DaCosta’s resume is indication that she has some kind of a powerhouse voice. Of course in today’s age, actresses don’t need to sing to play a singer. But even if her voice will be mixed with a professional’s for use in the film, it would be bring some realness to the role. She certainly has enough physical similarities to a young Whitney. With a little makeup and hair magic, her transformation will be stunning.
