Blallywood Spotlight: Naomi Harris – James Bond Skyfall

by on October 29, 2012

British actress Naomi Harris (Ninja Assassin, Street Kings, 28 Days Later) is the 5th Black woman to claim the coveted title of “Bond Girl”.

That’s right, Halle Berry was not the first Bond girl! The history of Black women playing Bond Girls includes:

  • Trina Parks 1971 in Diamonds Are Forever
  • Gloria Hendry 1973 in Live and Let Die
  • Grace Jones in 1985 in A View To Kill
  • Halle Berry in 202 in Die Another Day

Naomie Harris as Tia Dalma

Naomi Harris is not yet well known in the United States. The role you are most likely to remember her for is  Tia Dalma (right) in Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man’s Chest.

Harris has been gaining popularity on the International stage. The magazine spreads below show a much more pleasing version of Harris.

They come from International magazines in the UK, Germany, and France. When you are done looking, catch watch a clip of her in the James Bond film below.

Naomi Harris made the cover of Style magazine in the UK for the November edition.

These scans and quote are from inside the magazine. Harris says, “When they asked me to audition I thought, me, as a Bond Girl? I just didn’t see it.”

Naomi Harris along with Berenice Marlohe, the other “Bond Girl” in Skyfall, made the cover of GQ Germany! There were some rather racy poses. Below are two of the less racy ones.

Here we see Naomi Harris in, believe it or not, one of the less racy photos in GQ Germany.

Another photo from Naomi Harris’ GQ spread and interview.

The picture above is of Naomi Harris on the cover of France’s Premier magazine alongside her two co-stars.

Above is a shot of Naomi Harris in the actual film.  Her hair will be curly in the film.

Watch the clip below and See Harris in Action!

It’s interesting that Naomi Harris doesn’t get more publicity in the US. She clearly has Europe captivated! Catch Naomi Harris in James Bond Skyfall which releases November 9th 2012.
