Chadwick Boseman Will Play Funk Singer James Brown In Film
Chadwick Boseman, the actor who played Jackie Robinson in this year’s 42, is moving on to play another historical Black figure. He’s been tapped to portray James Brown in a film about the legendary funk singer. The biopic is still untitled according to the LATimes.  With two biopics on his resume, Coleman is establishing himself as a serious actor and leading man. It seems roles like these haven’t been available for Black men until very recently. Black men, unless they are lucky enough to be named Will Smith or Denzel Washington, are usually cast in limited supporting roles like comedy relief or  the stereotypical “best friend” character. Coleman has fortunate to be able to snap up these newly unfolded opportunities, and fortunately for the audience, he has the talent to back it up. His film 42 was just $5 million away from the $100 million mark.
