Scandal Get’s Thousands Of Tweets Per Minute On Thursdays
ABC’s Scandal gets thousands of tweets per minute each Thursday when the show airs. As part of the publicity strategy for the show, the twitter account @askscandal is there to take questions and suggest hashtags during the show’s time slot. Even cast members ranging from Columbus Short to Kerry Washington herself respond to fan commentary during the show. Its not strange for Scandal to take up 5-7 of the 10 available trending topics slots throughout the hour it airs.
It was reported by a number of sites, including Business Insider, that the January 31st episode of Scandal received an average of 2,200 tweets per minute.
On the most recent episode airing February 7th, the show hit a peak of 10,582 tweets per minute according to a tweet by Lesley Goldberg of the Hollywood Reporter.
This was only confirmed by a tweet, so I was skeptical. However I’ve since learned that ABC’s Family’s Pretty Little Liars pulled in 32,0000 tweets per minute in its season 2 finale, so its not unreasonable.
