Octavia Spencer To Play Central Role In Fox Television Show ‘Red Band Society’
Octavia Spencer is set to play a central character in a new television show from Fox. The show, titled Red Band Society, revolves around the day to day lives of a group of teenagers who all live in a hospital where Spencer’s character works. The teens become friends against odds. Spencer will play Nurse Jackson, who works in the pediatrics ward. She’s an excellent, intuitive nurse and a tough customer who doesn’t put up with any crap from anyone (Deadline). ”
This announcement follows news that a Murder She Wrote reboot Spencer was set to star in was cancelled before it got off the ground. Apparently her background as an Oscar winner (The Help) and supporting actress role in Fruitvale Station have garnered attention from studios. She is reported to have had “a slew of pilot offers” over the past few weeks by Deadline.
