Watch Trailer For AMC’s Newest Show Featuring Lennie James

by on March 23, 2013

The AMC television network has occasionally been criticized for its lack of, and treatment of, Black characters in the shows it airs. Teyonah Parris became Mad Men’s first black regular character in its fifth season 2012. The Walking Dead  can’t afford to kill of another Black man without raising serious eyebrows. Now AMC has created a show in which a Black character plays a competent, central character. Actor Lennie James, who you may recognize from The Walking Dead, plays a cop who, along with his partner (Mark Strong), is responsible for another cop’s murder murder.

This series summary was posted on Seriable:

Low Winter Sun is a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred. Low Winter Sun begins with the murder of a cop by a fellow Detroit detective. Seemingly the perfect crime, in reality the murder activates forces that will forever alter the detective’s life, and pull him into the heart of the Detroit underworld. Based on the award-winning 2006 British miniseries of the same name.

Season one will consist of 10 1-hour long episodes which debut this summer on AMC. Watch the trailer below:
