Jesse L. Martin To Replace Lenny Kravitz In Marvin Gay Biopic

black-actors-jesse-l-martin-marvin-gayeActor Jesse L. Martin is replacing Lenny Kravitz in the upcoming Marvin Gay biopic Sexual Healing according to Ace Showbiz. It was announced last year that Kravitz had been cast in the role of Marvin, and no reason has been given for this sudden change. Entertainment sites debated whether Kravitz’ physical appearance (mainly skin tone) was close enough to Gaye’s when his casting was first announced. This change doesn’t appear to be the result of that controversy, as their is no more similarity to Marvin Gaye in Martin’s appearance than in Kravitz’.

News of the reason for this change will likely follow shortly. It’s possible that Kravitz has pulled out upon hearing that the Gaye family is against the film, which will focus on Marvin’s troubled years.
