Consequence Breaks Down Black Actors

by on March 7, 2013

Black actors are the type-cast assembly of Hollywood personalities in the history of American entertainment. Though February is over, we could still learn a thing or two about Black History, in particular the actors we continually see on television and the big screen. We, as a viewing audience, take for granted the amount of hard work, dedication and unfortunately, the often compromise that is required for black actors to achieve the peak of success that we later celebrate and applaud them for.

I do not consider myself to be the biggest ‘Consequence’ fan, however, I can appreciate the mentions of Black legends who have paved the way for the images and expectations of black males in everyday life that do not have the pressures of shaping and sometimes redefining the image of black men for all to judge. No other race of people are judged as critically or the fictional roles taken as literal interpretations as Black men in cinema or television. The video featured takes a trip down memory lane, and offers lyrics that make you think about how far we’ve come, where we are now, and what to look forward to in the future. Check it out and Enjoy!
