About Last Night is an upcoming Black remake of a 1986 film (originally David Mamet’s play titled Sexual Perversity In Chicago) which will star Kevin Hart, Joy Bryant, Michael Ealy, and Regina Hall. The original film adaptation stared Rob Lowe and Demi Moore, among others.

The film is not scheduled to be released until February 14th, 2014, a reasonable marketing ploy for a romantic comedy.  Clearly Sony Pictures wants to capitalize on the Valentine’s Day holiday to give the film the best shot at making money. However a very early trailer was released online today.  The trailer is outrageously funny, but making audiences wait a year is not so much…

The film is in post-production according to IMDB, so why the long wait? Think Like A Man, which starred Michael Ealy, was a massive hit, and it was released a month after Valentine’s Day in 2012.  Moreover this film has Kevin Hart who is incredibly popular right now. Are they betting that he’ll have an even bigger name by next year? I think the Sony should put the film out this year. The time is right. Unfortunately they are unlikely to take my opinion into consideration.
