Lifetime’s Betty & Coretta With Angela Bassett And Mary J. Blige

For the month of February, historically Black History month in the states, the Lifetime Television Network is presenting audiences with 3 original films. Betty & Coretta, the first to debut, will air Saturday, February 2 at 8/7 c.

The film focuses on the stories of the wives of civil rights leaders Dr. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. After their husbands were assassinated, the two women assumed responsibility for carrying out the civil rights movement and  raising their children alone.

Angela Bassett will star as Coretta Scott King, and Mary J. Blige will play Dr. Betty Shabazz. On the male side, Malik Yoba will play Martin Luther King Jr. and Lindsay Owen Pierre will play Malcolm X.
