Kenan Thompson To Star In Sitcom

Kenan Thompson is preparing to write in, star in, and executive produce his own sitcom. NBC has given him a deal in which the 34-year-old will play a man who gives up his life in New York City to move in with his in-laws in the suburbs.

CNNs Marquee Blog believes that “generational comedy” will be the result.

His character’s name will be Kenan.

A network comedy sitcom is a rational progression for Thompson, who starred on Nickelodeon’s All That and Kenan & Kel before moving to  Saturday Night Live.

Having had a successful career since childhood, it doesn’t seem like Kenan Thompson needs a network TV show for security ). Why do you think bigger moves aren’t in the works for Kenan? Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence aren’t getting any younger. The big screen could use an additional funny Black comedian.

Do you think Thompson is playing it smart by moving to a network show? Is he the type to comply with network censorship, or does he need more freedom?
