Alex Cross Opens To $11.75 Million. Why it is NOT a flop!

by on October 22, 2012

The film Alex Cross placed 5th this weekend at the box office according to Box Office Mojo. The total gross was $11,750,000.

Film sites are calling this a flop. Wrong!

Let’s put this into perspective.

The film’s budget was low for an action movie  – only $35 million. The film almost certainly will make this up.

Secondly, the earnings are not far off from the previous Alex Cross films. The previous film in the franchise – Along Came A Spider – made $74,000,000 at the domestic box office during its entire release.

But here’s what it made it’s first weekend – $16,712,407.

A measly $5 million more than Tyler Perry’s Alex Cross.

Guess what else. The budget for Along Came a Spider, starring Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross, was $60 million. Almost double the budget of this film!

More budget means more special effects – equaling a more explosive trailer, and more cash for marketing the film.

Even with a $25 million advantage in budget, it hardly overtook Tyler Perry’s Alex Cross opening weekend.

Do you still think this film is a flop?

Wow you’re way off… Lots of films have decent openings, because no one has seen it and realized it sucks yet. This movie has been universally destroyed by critics. Take your article down and stop making yourself look like an idiot like Perry already did

You did not take into account that ticket prices are drastically more expensive since the previous films came out!!!
