Peak at Halle Berry In Potentially Great Film ‘Cloud Atlas’

by on August 2, 2012

The film Cloud Atlas is based on a book of the same name by David Mitchell.

Rather than summarizing the plot, I’ll  let your read this beautifully written quote from OregonLive.com:

Why do we make the same mistakes over and over? That’s the question at the heart of the upcoming film “Cloud Atlas,” a science-fiction epic starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry. In a just-released extended trailer — it runs nearly six minutes — we see different generations of humanity dealing with everything from broken relationships and missed connections to slavery, and how things like fear, belief and love shape our destinies.

Thanks again OregonLive!

Judging by the previews, Cloud Atlas could be one of the best movies of all time, or an utter failure. The plot seems incredibly complex for a time when movie makers produce scripts aimed at the lowest common denomiator.  Studios seem consider original films to be the kiss of death. Forget about a high budget if your not a proven successful franchise. This looks like it could be one of those rare box office hits and Oscar worthy films. The cast is expansive and amazing. Halle Berry is featured prominently in trailers and promos, so we probably can expect a lot of her in this film.

The rest of the all-star cast is composed of Tom Hanks, Jim Broadbent, Ben Whishaw, Hugo Weaving, Hugh Grant, Jim Sturgess, Susan Sarandon, and Doona Bae.

Watch the extended trailer below…

Thoughts? Will you check out the 3 hour film when it arrives in theaters stateside on October 26th 2012?
