Chris Rock is Romantic Lead in 2 Days In New York

by on August 8, 2012

On Friday August 10th, Chris Rock’s latest film 2 Days In New York debuts in theaters. Chris Rock stars alongside Julie Delphy in a film about a couple in a mature interracial relationship that gets rocked when the family of Juliie Delpy’s character’s family comes to down.

Magnolia Pictures provided this official summary:

Marion and Mingus live cozily—perhaps too cozily—with their cat and two young children from previous relationships. However, when Marion’s jolly father (played by director Delpy’s real-life dad), her oversexed sister, and her sister’s outrageous boyfriend unceremoniously descend upon them for a visit, it initiates two unforgettable days that will test Marion and Mingus’s relationship. With their unwitting racism and sexual frankness, the French triumvirate hilariously has no boundaries or filters…and no person is left unscathed in its wake.

This film sounds like every other interracial-romance-meets-family-flick ever produced, but the tone seems unique. The splash of French culture may help distinguish it from other films in this category.  Think Chris Rock makes a good ladies man? Watch the trailer and decide.

Will you be seeing it when it hits theaters this Friday, August 10th?
