Deadline has reported that Ride Along, which will star Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, will start production in October 2012. The film has just been acquired from New Line Cinema by Universal Pictures.

Universal is reportedly ready to get things rolling. They’ve given this synopsis:

Hart will play a second-grade teacher who is ready to get married, but first he must survive a Training Day-like ride-along experience with his fiancee’s tough cop brother, who doesn’t want the marriage to happen and tries to scare off the suitor.

So Kevin Hart, whose career is on fire right now, paired with comedy and a proven film formula, and New Line was sitting on it? New Line must have a lot of money makers lined up. It’s hard to picture a way this film could actually not succeed at the box office.
